Policing Advocacy

Other Working Group

Focusing specifically on addressing issues of police brutality and advocating for meaningful police reform, this committee aims to challenge systemic biases within law enforcement institutions and promote accountability, transparency, and community-centered approaches to public safety across the Region. One of the primary objectives of the Policing Advocacy Committee is to raise awareness about instances of police brutality and the systemic factors that contribute to them.

The committee discusses the root causes and consequences of anti-Black racism and systemic discrimination in policing. This knowledge fuels our educational initiatives, empowering communities with the tools and resources they need to comprehend, challenge, and confront racial injustices. In addition to research and education, we engage in strategic advocacy that aims to influence policy-makers and decision-makers. By amplifying the voices of affected communities, we advocate for policy reforms that promote accountability, transparency, and equity within law enforcement.

Our committee is deeply committed to grassroots activism, recognizing the power of individuals and communities in driving meaningful change. We encourage and support individuals to become active participants in their own communities, equipped with the necessary tools and guidance to challenge discriminatory practices and demand justice. Together, we strive to create a future where law enforcement is free from anti-Black racism and systemic discrimination.
